Gerry Scheide
Nantucket resident Gerry Scheide’s
primitive art is a charming mix of simple, colorful, and sometimes whimsical
images that capture the spirit of Nantucket.
Working primarily with oil paints, Gerry paints on a variety of surfaces
including barrel staves as well as traditional canvases. Gerry’s work features scenes of old
Nantucket and incorporates fanciful designs which include mermaids, whales, and
other nautical themes. She discovered
her flair for art in her latter years and has found painting an exciting
adventure ever since. Some samples of
her work are shown below.
