John R. Ahern is a principal of Compass Capital Corporation (Compass), a Registered Investment Advisory firm located in Boston, Massachusetts. John is also a Principal and Senior Vice President of Compass Securities Corporation, a Compass subsidiary and NASD broker/dealer. He is a licensed General Securities Representative and insurance broker. In addition, John is the manager for Compass Securities' institutional tax credit programs and the alternative investment institutional program.
John is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional and certified with the CFP Board of Standards since 1984 and is a member of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners,
and a former Director of the Greater Boston chapter. He is the President of Loper Associates Inc., a real estate management company in New York. John specializes in strategic investment management and retirement planning.
John received his undergraduate education at the United States Military Academy where he received his commission in the United States Marine Corps. He served in the USMC for five years including service in Vietnam. He has a Master's in Business Administration and a Master's in Manufacturing Engineering, both from Boston University. His career, after military service, began with managing one of General Electric's manufacturing programs in the aircraft engine business as well as being a Plant Superintendent for Litton Industries. He was also a Plant Manager and General Manager for the Valtec Corporation, a pioneering company in the field of fiber optics.
John has spent the last 25 years in the securities industry as an advisor to
individuals and small business owners.
