Fred is a co-founder and Managing Director of Harken Capital Advisers, an Institutional Division of Compass Securities Corporation. He focuses on raising capital commitments from institutional investors on behalf of buyout and venture capital funds.

Previously, he was a Principal at Intervale Capital, a buyout firm focused on energy companies. He joined Intervale in 2006 as part of the founding team. He led the marketing of the firm's debut institutional fund, Intervale Capital Fund, L.P., which held a final close on $280 million in commitments from leading endowments, pension funds, foundations and financial institutions in May 2008.

Fred also has ten years of experience as a private equity investor. He has led buyouts as well as venture capital and mezzanine debt financings. He began his career in the Corporate Finance Department at Morgan Stanley & Co., Inc.

Fred is a graduate of The Kellogg School of Management (MBA, Finance/Strategy) where he was an Austin Scholar, and of Dartmouth College (BA, History) where he was a National Merit Scholar and was inducted into Dartmouth's Athletic Hall of Fame.
